Student was told that they could access Ancestry.com for free in the library.
Initially it appeared that the only way to accomplish this was via a "free trial subscription" which the student did initiate. Some confusion arose because the librarian was not aware of an email sent 10/26/11 regarding a "free trial" of an academic version of this product.
Because of the exceptional diligence of the librarian and given his natural inclination to student success the Librarian kept searching and, quickly (as one would expect) discovered the lost email and informed the student of the opportunity.
Here is the URL, it only works from "on campus" meaning within our on campus IP ranges.
